The lecture provides a comparative overview of how the history of preschool education has developed in the Czech lands as compared with the rest of the world over the last 150 years. It refers to the stages of development in pedagogical thinking, institutionalization, the professional preparation of foster parents, educators and teachers and the formation of the pre-school education curriculum with the aim of presenting examples of first-rate preschool education as well as political and economic threats in the Czech lands.
